5. Let's write: My family go shopping (9 minutes)

Task content and materials
All textbook prompts:
What is the weather like today?

What do your parents want to buy?
What do you want to buy?

What does your brother / sister want to buy?
Textbook opening: The weather is lovely today. My family want to go to the supermarket.
Complete suggested paragraph from the teacher's book:
The weather is lovely today. My family want to go to the supermarket. My father wants to buy some
bread. My mother wants to buy some juice. I want to buy some books. My sister wants to buy some
toys.
Pupils may describe an imagined family. Use the opening as a model and adjust weather, family
members and purchases consistently. Do not require a sibling if the pupil has none; another relative or
a fictional family is acceptable.
Check: weather; destination; adults' purchases; own purchase; one other person's purchase. Use wants
after My father/mother/sister and want after I.

Complete example report:
It was sunny in Ha Noi last weekend. It's rainy in Ha Noi today.
It was sunny in Da Nang last weekend. It's windy in Da Nang today.
It was cloudy in Can Tho last weekend. It's rainy in Can Tho today.
For a pupil's chart, add the source and actual date to each entry. Use observed or retrieved data only
when available; otherwise label the work Textbook practice chart, English 4, p. 45.
Digital task: identify today's city/date need, open two teacher-screened weather results and compare
their city, time and text labels. Record a current result only with its actual source/time. A current
forecast does not supply last weekend's weather.
