Unit 10: My classmates
Period 57 - Lesson 1 (Parts 1, 2)
I. Objectives: 
 By the end of the lesson, Pupils will be able to ask and answer questions about the physical appearance of the classmate.
II. Language focus
* Vocabulary :classmate,short,strong,slim,weak,big 
* Sentence Pattern: - What does he/she look like?
 -She’s/He’s tall and slim.
III. Resources	
 - Audio, visual aids: recordings handmade puppets.
IV. Procedure:

1. Warm up
-Ask ps to describe their classroom.
2. Pre -Prac
1. Look, listen and repeat 
- Ask pupils to open their Student’s books on page 66 and look at the picture.Tell them that the ps in the picture Nam and Linda. 
- Tell them that they are going to look at the dialogue in their Student’s book,listen to the recording and repeat the dialogue between Nam and Linda.
- Play the recording through for pupils to listen the dialogue.
-Play the recording again, pausing after each line for pupils to repeat.Draw pupils’ attention to the pronunciation of the words Jim and Canada.
-Teach the new words and structure:
 -Classmate:bạn cùng lớp
-Canada:
-Look:trông
-Like:giống như
-Tall:cao
-Slim:mảnh dẻ/gầy
- Divide the class into two groups. Ask one group to repeat Nam’s part and the other the Linda’s part.Repeat the step ưhen necessary.
-Check to make sure ps can repeat and understand the dialogue.
2. Look and say 
- Ask Pupils look at Picture a, b, c , d ,e and f on page 66. Tell them to identify the appearance of the pupil in each picture.(picture a: short,picture b: tall,picture c: slim and picture d :big,picture e:strong and picture f:weak.)
-Teach the word: -short:thấp
 -big:béo
 -strong:khoẻ
 -weak:yếu
 -Teach the sentence patterns What does he /she look like ? and He’s/She’s
- Do the task with one pupil as an example.
 For example : Teacher : What does he look like?Pupil:He short.
-Ask pupils to work in pairs to practise asking and answering the question,using the word next to each picture as a cues.Monitor the activity,check ps’pronunciation and offer help when necessary.
- Select some pairs of pupils to demonstrate the task in the front of the class.

I. Objectives: 
 By the end of the lesson, Pupils will be able to ask and answer about the physical appearance of a classmate.

- Audio, visual aids: recordings, handmade puppets, flashcards, crayon, stickers.

- Ask Pupils work in pair to practice ask and answer questions about the physical appearance of a classmate.

 -Ask pupils open their book on page 67 and look at picture a,b,c,d,e and f .Help them to identify the appearance pf the P in each picture( e.g. picture a:tall,picture b:short,picture c:slim,picture d:big,picture e:strong and picture f:weak)
-Tell ps that they are going to aks and answer questions about the appearance of these ps ,using What does nhe/she look like?,and He’s/She’s.
eg:a.What des he look like/

- Ask pupils to work in pairs, one P asks the question and the other gives the answer.Repeat the step when necessary 
- Ask Pupils to role play to their own physical appearance.
 - Select some pairs of pupils to demonstrate the task in front of the class.
 4. Listen and tick.
- Ask pupils to open their Students’ book on page 67.Ask them to identify the pupil’s appearance in the pictures(1.picture a:short and picture b:tall;2.picture a:small and picture b:big).Tell them that they are going listen to the recording and tick the correct answers.
- Play the recording through for pupils to listen. 
- Play the recording again for pupils to tick the correct answers. 
- Play the recording once more for pupils to check their answers. 
- Ask some pupils to roport their answers to the class. and provide explanation(s) when necessary.
- Announce the answers and Provide explanation(s) when necessary.

 - pronounce the sound of the letters i and that of the letters a; and
 - to listen and to read for specific for specific information.
II. Language focus
* Phonics :slim tall
* Vocabulary: very,love,because
* Sentence Pattern: -Look at Jim.
 -He,s very slim.
III. Resources	
- Audio, visual aids: recordings, handmade puppets, flashcards, one large sized sheet of paper for the chant on page 68 , crayon, stickers.
 IV. Procedure

1. Warm up 
- Ask pupils to describe their family members’ appearance.
 2. Pre - Prac
 1. Listen and repeat.
- Ask pupils to open their Students’ book on page 68 .Draw their attention to the sound of the letter i as in slim and that of the letter a as in tall.Tell them that they are going to pronunce these sound correctly.
. Stick the large- sized sheet of paper with the chant on the board and ask ps to look at the chant on the board.Pronounce the focused sounds(first in isolation and then in the words slim and tall) a few times as a model.
- Play the recording for pupils to listen and repeat the chant.. Repeat the step when necessary.Provice help and correct mistakes When neccessary. Provide help and correct pupils’ pronunciation mistakes when necessary.
-Play the recording again for ps to sing the chant in front of the class.The rest of the class clap their hands at rhythms.
- 2.Listen and number 
 - Ask Pupils to look at the pictures on Page 68 of the Student Book. 
- Help them to identify the ps as well as their appearance in the picture ( picture a:Mary/small and thin.Picture b: Mei Mei/big and short,picture c:Tony/big and tall and, picture d: Peter/tall and thin. ). 
- Tell pupils that they are going to listen to the recording and number the correct pictures.
- Play the recording through for pupils to listen.
- Play the recording again for pupils to do the task.
- Play the recording once more for pupils to check their answers.
- Ask some pupils to report their answers to the class .Correct mistakes and provide explanation(s) when necessary.

 By the end of the lesson, Pupils will be able to :
 - listen and read for specific for specific information.
II. Language focus
* Vocabulary: 
* Sentence Pattern: He is tall and strong.
III. Resources	
- Audio, visual aids: recordings, handmade puppets, flashcards, one large sized sheets of paper for the game on page 69 , crayon, stickers
IV. Procedure:

- Ask pupils to describe their family members’ appearance.

- Get pupils to open their Students’ book on page 69. Tell them that they are going to read the text about Tom and Mai and tick Yes or No in the correct boxes. 
- Let pupils read the text and do the task individually. Monitor the activity and offer help when necessary.
-Ask ps to exchange their answers with their partners to find out possible answers.
- Ask some pupils to report their answers to the class.
- Announce the answers to the class. Provide explanation(s) when necessary.

MODEL DISPLAY.
-Copy the picture on page 69 in a large-sized sheet of paper and stick it on the board.Tell ps that they are going to play the Model Display game with characters marked from a to f.
-Explain how the game is played.Divide the class into 6 groups and give each group a piece of paper.The group writes one sentence describing the physical appearance of one of the characters(e.g.He’s tall and strong.)Remind them that each group has one character to describe and one minute to finish their work.After one minute,ask the groups to stick their pieces of paper under their characters.
-When everything is ready,you call out One,two,three.Action.Each group sends a menber to stick the piece of paper to their character.The group that finishes the work first with the correct sentence will win the game.
-You can ask the groups to read out their sentences in front of the class.

-T remarks the lesson.

Period 61 - Lesson 3 (Parts 1, 2) 
I. Objectives: 
 By the end of this lesson, Pupils will be able to make comparisons of physical appearance.
II. Language focus
* Vocabulary: who,taller,stronger,,shorter,slimmer,weaker,bigger. 
* Sentence Pattern:- Who is taller? 
 -Tony is taller. 
III. Resources	
- Audio, visual aids: recordings, handmade puppets, flashcards, crayon, stickers
IV. Procedure:

1. Warm up
- Ask pupils to sing the chant on page 68.
2. Pre - Prac
1. Listen and repeat 
- Ask pupils to open their Students’ book on page 70. Tell them that the boys in the picture are Phong and Quan.They are talking about Tom and Tony.Tell them that they are going to listen to the recording and repeat the dialogue between Phong and Quan .
. - Teach the word :Who:ai

- Play the recording through for pupils to listen as they follow the dialoge.
- Play the recording again, pausing each line for pupils to repeat.
- Divide the class into two groups. Ask the groups to repeat Phong’s part and Quan’s part. Repeat the step, but this time get the groups swap their roles.
-Play the recording again for the whole class to repeat the dialoge.Correct pupils’ pronunciation mistakes when necessary.

- Ask Pupils look at the Pictures a, b, and c on page 70.Help them to compare the appearance of the pupils in the pictures(Picture a:taller/shorter;Picture b: bigger/slimmer,Picture c:weaker/stronger ). 
-Teach the comparative form of the adjectives(e.g.tall-taller,short-shorter,small-smaller,strong-stronger,weak-weaker,big-bigger,slim-slimmer).
*.Khi so sánh hơn giữa người và vật ta thêm er vào sau tính từ.
-Đối với tính từ(big,slim)ta phải nhân đôi phụ âm cuối sau đó mới thêm er
-Tell them that they are going to practise comparing the pupils’ appearance in each picture .
- Do the task with one pupil as a model (e.g.teacher:He’s taller.She’s shorter.)
-Ask pupils to work in groups to practise comparing the pupils’ appearance,using the sentence patterns in the bubbles and the words under each picture.

- Get pupils to complete the sentences individually.Tell them to use the words bigger for Picture 1 and smaller or shorter for picture 2.
 Ask ps to exchange their answers with their partners.Monitor the activity, and provide help if necessary.
