I. LEARNING OUTCOMES

Pronounce ar in farmer and ur in nurse in words and model sentences.
Listen for nurse and farmer and circle the correct option in two sentences.
Chant two verses, identifying each parent's job and workplace without swapping them.

Listen to sound contrasts, compare a claim with exact words and cooperate in using picture cues.

Respect people of any gender in different jobs and support a partner's pronunciation.

Warm-up: Two job clues (3 minutes)
Learning goal: Recall farmer and nurse and introduce gardener as a listening option.
Task content and materials
Clue1: 'She works on a farm.' Expected job: farmer in this practice role. Clue2: 'He is a nurse. He 
works at a nursing home.' Ask pupils to repeat nurse.
Introduce gardener: a person who looks after a garden. Board: farmer / nurse / gardener. Do not require 
an unseen word-search grid.

Learning goal: Produce the two target vowel sounds clearly in words and sentences.
Task content and materials
Track18 — complete models:
ar — farmer — My father is a farmer.
ur — nurse — My mother is a nurse.
Teacher focus: ar in farmer and ur in nurse have different vowel sounds. Model from the official 
recording where available; pupils need not write phonetic symbols.
Practice sequence: farmer, nurse, farmer, nurse; then both full sentences.
